The cultural capital of
Southwest
Florida, Sarasota is a haven for artists and well as art
enthusiasts. The county’s cultural attractions rival those of much
larger cities with two symphonies, a world-class ballet company, an
opera house, an abundance of art galleries and numerous playhouses.
One of the most beautiful museums in the
United States is
located in Sarasota. A gift from John and Mable Ringling, the
collection is recognized internationally for its Baroque paintings,
including John Paul Rubens’ Triumph of the Eucharist series.
Additionally, the exquisite 18th century Asolo Theater
from Asolo, Italy, and the Ringling Museum of the Circus are found
in Sarasota.
Sarasota is home
to a plethora of performing artists, as well as a training area for
stage actors and graphic artists. The Ringling School of Art and
Design hosts talented sculptors and painters, while actors from
around the world train at the Asolo Theater Festival.
